Loews Annapolis is situated on West Avenue, immediately west of the Maryland State Capitol building and Loews Hotels wanted to upgrade the property as the hotel is frequented by state lawmakers. The focus of the renovation was the lobby, restaurant, ballroom and guest rooms. Loews Hotels wanted the property to be reflective of the history of Annapolis, thus the design inspiration was rooted in Annapolis’ rich sailing history. A grand mosaic mural of the masts of a skipjack greets guests as soon as they enter the hotel reception area.
Further sailing references are conveyed in the art screens at the lobby seating areas, as well as in subtle furniture details. Guest rooms are refreshed with crisp colors and nautically-themed fabrics echoing the public space designs. The restaurant took its cues from the ambience of a Chesapeake Bay boathouse, which helped mirror design inspiration of the lobby and adjacent meeting spaces.
